Across My Coffee

as I breathe across my coffee
on no ordinary winter’s day
I decipher games that blizzards play
revealed in noise, whipped by contrast
uneven tempos, wilder still
gusting rattles, dull inhospitable bites
and I am entreated, take, feel, a deeper silence
more profound (yet more, but why?)
embrace the limitations
on time and space held in this winter’s roar
and so, and so
yes and so again
to the window’s edge I draw my lines
the tranquil wisp of comfort’s air
crests away of my milk white cup
fairness is food for an even soul
let this fact not find one tear of rage
truth and love, and simplicity
blooms and waits in the eddies
yes, it waits there now
it waits there still
and so I say
“let it”

“and I am entreated, take, feel, a deeper silence

I love the parallels between the blizzard and our thoughts, the tranquility of being “inside” breathing over our coffee and the “deeper silence.”
“truth and love, and simplicity
blooms and waits in the eddies”
Beautiful, simply beautiful … how you take something like a blizzard and weave it into Wisdom.
Thank you Otter for your kind words!
this winter already seems to be deeper (and hopefully wiser) than most!
