Too Many Ifs

too many ifs, they come in a flurry
fall around me, like unwanted snow
on a dreary April morn
it is funny
for of course I know, their existence
should not cause me pain
I will brush them off
to disappear, somewhere else
somewhere, where
my attention is not
there is a sting, (yes I can feel it)
they do hit some places
more tender and exposed
but my body is warm
they melt quickly
my skin will take the time
to woo away any harm
and in the shivering wetness
(that is all that is left)
I can feel the promise
of warmer times
and brighter skies
IS, is more powerful than
IF, can ever be

from the “if”, comes the “is”. But so often, the “is” is not what it was thought to be … perhaps this surpassing quality makes the “is” that much more powerful.
this is true (and this is wise) :-)
I am merely repeating the wisdom contained in the poem.
Time: to emit, to send out, the continuum of existence
Love: the evolve, grow, and develop
Truth: the reality of time and love realized.
The three in a trinity of unity for a harmonius eternity.
If you take more interst in your future today, tomorrow you will have more principle to work with.
To be in control is to be selfish, to be in charge is to be gracious.
ah yes… there are important subtleties between “being in control” and “being in charge”!!
Yes, that subtly is part of what I was alluding to.
(Thank you for your interesting ideas Richard)
and just before the wave and the sand comingle, in that frothy, churning place, if and is meet am and will be.
Is is present
What if, maybe so's and could've beens tend to take up some time in our minds every now and then. At the moment I think of a woman and wonder, “What if…”
This poem reminds me of one of my blogs.
I absolutely love this poem. The imagery is exquisite. “If's” are always conditional… . If I didn't say this … . If only I had that … “Is,” means acceptance. If we can negotiate the bramble of our “ifs” we get to “is.” At least in my case, that doesn't happen without getting a few scratches.
Catherine, I love the alliteration and idea in the line,
“my skin will take the time
to woo away any harm”.
It has a nice tactile feel.
