Cherishing the Enigma

cherishing the enigma
with my drunken slurring smile
I’ll have a few more peanuts
before I climb up on the bar
make a subtle grab, for 'tention
well subtle just for some
then pontificate 'bout nonsense
while banging on my drum
poetry can tickle goose-bumps
poetry can slice between the ribs
poetry can soothe or simper
run its fingers through your hair
but still I fawn at Enigma
and chortle in the dark
then wonder in the morning
just where
has
my soul
been?

Your poetry is so visual. I love how words can conjur. Thank you!
I like the “bite” to this poem.
poetry can tickle goose-bumps
poetry can slice between the ribs
poetry can soothe or simper
run its fingers through your hair
And, poetry, in the hands of a talented poet, can take a “photograph in words” of just about anything, and make it fascinating. I liked the voice, and the style of this one.
And you were out drinking and dancing on bar tops. a liitle enigma a touch of wickedness adds to that sweet smile in the picture.
If poetry can bring you back everytime your soul can jump, you know your gonna find it.
awww theres an if
vey nice!
embracing the unknown … if that isn't freedom, then I don't know what is.
“poetry can tickle goose-bumps
poetry can slice between the ribs
poetry can soothe or simper
run its fingers through your hair”
I like those lines too!
