Catherine : mildly metaphoric Heavy and Humid

Heavy and Humid

Posted on Jul 21st, 2007 by Catherine : mildly metaphoric Catherine
four foot swells in the pouring rain
writing my words in the wet grey sand
oh, its been said, its been said my friend
let silence move in you now
let silence be

summer silence is heavy and humid
lays upon your skin like sweat-soaked clothes
itches and flits with the bugs in the grass
a shaking head
can not sift the muteness

sleeping on my back, unfurled
a long long journey from
the winter world
the brisk walk
the hot tea
my cold face, plum tinted to the inside air
gathering words in my pockets
heavy winter garments to buttress me
talking, laughing
to keep my hands warm

but now books, fire, fingertips
wait, poised, aching for a later time
questions only linger in sleep

every puppy, does eventually
lose interest in his tail
sighs at his failure

then laps up the shade
the calming breeze

My inner “puppy” does lose interest, but usually only because she has exhausted herself.  When she wakes up from her nap, she forgets having lost interest, and starts chasing her tail all over again.
